Quanzhou installs more than 9,000 5G base stations

To date, the city of Quanzhou, in East China's Fujian province, has installed more than 9,000 5G base stations, achieving 5G signal coverage in the main urban areas, counties and key townships and towns.

Since being selected in the first batch of 50 pilot cities for 5G commercial use in 2019, the city has prioritized the rollout of the 5G network and its various application scenarios.

It has issued 14 specific work lists covering four main areas -- network planning and deployment, technical implementation specifications, resource openness and sharing and resource guarantees -- to support the 5G construction program.

The city has also actively integrated the resources of telco operators, equipment manufacturers and traditional manufacturing industries, to apply 5G technology in the fields of smart logistics, smart parks and administrative supervision.

According to statistics, Quanzhou currently has 53 innovative 5G applications projects on the go.

As a traditional manufacturing city, in recent years, Quanzhou has increased its policy support, promoted the intelligent upgrading of traditional industries and developed its intelligent equipment industry.

To date, the city has presided over six national smart manufacturing new model and standardization projects, five national smart manufacturing pilot demonstration projects, as well as 43 provincial-level smart manufacturing demonstration enterprises and model factories.

In addition, it has developed and constructed 112 municipal digital workshops. The number of intelligent manufacturing demonstration enterprises ranks it first in the province.
