A flight loaded with 10,898 kilograms of goods departed from Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport in Fujian province's Quanzhou city on Aug 5, bound for Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Malaysia's Sabah state.

The trip marked the opening of the first direct cargo route between Quanzhou and Malaysia. Operated by Xiamen Airlines, the route is scheduled for every Wednesday and Saturday.

As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, Quanzhou-based export companies have faced numerous difficulties since the beginning of this year, such as trouble in receiving orders and fulfilling contracts and poor international logistics.

At present, there is high export demand for epidemic prevention materials and products to help enterprises resume work.

The launch of the cargo route will help Quanzhou's local business to solve export issues and access foreign markets.

Going forward, Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport will work to expand cargo routes and strengthen the positive relationship between the air freight industry and local cross-border e-commerce companies.
