The Gymnasiade, an international sports games for teens organized by the Brussels-based International School Sport Federation, is held every two years.

It will feature 241 events including track and field, archery, badminton, basketball, chess, diving, fencing, football, aerobics, competitive gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, judo, the skipping rope, swimming, table tennis, wrestling and martial arts.

The 30 venues for the games are located in the central area of Jinjiang, the western area and the southern area of the city. They comprise 22 venues for competition and the opening and closing ceremonies, four training venues and four standby venues.

Officials said 66.7 percent of the sports venues have been established in schools and these facilities will be owned by the schools after the games, enabling them to play a role in improving the quality of the school infrastructure and benefitting physical education at the schools.

The Jinjiang Youth Sports School project will be used for the training of athletes at the school and for national badminton teams.

Some other venues will open to the public after the event.
