To welcome the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, county-level cities and counties in Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province, will launch nearly 30 cultural tourism activities.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar. This year it will fall on June 25.

On the day itself, an event will be held promoting cultural tourism sites in the ancient city of Quanzhou. English interpreters will lead international friends to visit the ancient city, and enjoy local delicious food, such as Quanzhou meat zongzi (a pyramidal glutinous-rice dumpling).

On June 20, Jinjiang livestreamed an online Duanwu-themed activity from the Wudianshi tradition block, which will last until Aug 20.

The culture, sports and tourism bureau of Huian county will hold a design competition for cultural and creative tourism products on June 28.

In addition, 11 scenic spots in Quanzhou will implement preferential policies and launch a series of colorful activities. From June 24, Dehua Jiuxian Mountain Scenic Spot will organize hiking and climbing festivals, Hanfu experiences, and a zongzi-making activity.

From June 25 to Dec 31, the Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Spot in Quanzhou is free for medics across the country, and half-price concessions are offered to accompanying people (up to five people).

Also, in terms of cultural performances, local operas such as Liyuan, Gaojia and Dacheng and Nanyin will be staged at theaters in Quanzhou.
