Quanzhou city administration bureau recently issued an urban garden greening strategy for 2020, with a plan to add more than 120 hectares of green space.

The plan covers aspects of greening and beautification, landscape improvement, layout of green space environments at important locations, and maintenance of green land.

In central urban areas, Quanzhou will focus on the beautification of main roads, tree-lined landscape roads and urban landscapes, while in old urban areas, it will plant more evergreen and flowering trees, and construct pocket parks to expand the amount of green leisure space for citizens.

This year, each county or county-level city plans to build at least one disaster prevention and risk avoidance park of a certain scale, with complete water and electricity facilities.

In addition, Quanzhou will continue to increase the protection of ancient and famous trees, strengthen their daily inspection and management, and provide updates on their conditions.

In terms of tree species selection, the city will plant local trees with strong adaptability, low planting cost, high survival rate, and low maintenance cost to create urban street landscapes with local characteristics.

Also this year, it will prompt Nan'an and Shishi county-level cities to start the construction of a national garden city as soon as possible.
