Kang Tao, a deputy to the National People's Congress and Party secretary of Quanzhou, recently granted an exclusive interview to Fujian Daily about the development of the city's real economy.

"Quanzhou has insisted on a new development model and adopted the 'Jinjiang experience' to make a contribution to the development of the real economy," said Kang.

Jinjiang is a county-level city in Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province. Jinjiang has developed its private economy, brand economy and real economy, forging a unique development path. Its economic aggregate has been the first among Fujian's county-level cities for 25 consecutive years.

In 2019, Quanzhou's gross domestic product reached 994.67 billion yuan ($139.79 billion), a year-on-year increase of eight percent.

Since the beginning of this year, facing the COVID-19 epidemic, Quanzhou has taken rapid action to explore strategies of resuming work and production, Kang said.

At present, the domestic market of the city has recovered by more than 80 percent and foreign orders have recovered by 40 percent. Brand enterprise orders have remained basically the same as last year.

In recent years, Quanzhou has devoted itself to the high-quality development of its manufacturing industry. Industrial investment accounted for about 35 percent of fixed asset investment, maintaining double-digit growth every year, Kang added.

This year, the city has held various cloud signing activities, with agreements signed for a total of 164 projects worth 166.9 billion yuan. Of these, there were 21 industrial projects with a total investment of over 1 billion yuan.
