The upgrading project for Shiniu Mountain scenic area in Dehua county, Quanzhou, a city in East China’s Fujian province, is progressing well and is expected to be completed in May, according to local officials.

Located in Shuikou town in northeast of Dehua county, the main peak of Shiniu Mountain is 1,782 meters above sea level. The scenic area mainly includes the Shiniu Mountain Main Peak Scenic Area and Daixian Waterfall Scenic Area.

It is rated as a national 4A-level tourist scenic spot and boasts a national forest park, a national geopark and a national water conservation scenic spot.

The upgrading project includes five major aspects -- including the main peak of Shiniu Mountain, Daixian Waterfall, a ropeway, Shilongxi rubber boat rafting and Daixianxi bamboo rafting.

To date, the cliff plank road, tourist service center, tourist trail project, parking lot and plaza project have been completed.

Officials said construction of a glass viewing platform is also coming to an end.
