Costing 230 million yuan ($32.62 million), the builders completed construction and it was handed over to the operators at the end of December 2019. Officials said the buildings cover about 30,000 square meters, with the design storage capacity of 121,000 tons.

Its level of advanced construction and computer-driven intelligence places it at the forefront of the province -- and it has become a benchmark project for Jinjiang to build a modern and informatized grain storage warehouse and a modern grain storage system.

Mechanized and intelligent management has been adopted from grain input and grain storage to grain output, using cameras to monitor the temperature, humidity and ventilation in the warehouse in real time. Officials said a laboratory is used to test the grain entering the warehouse.

The new facility will ensure sufficient grain reserves, allowing Jinjiang's citizens eat high-quality grain whenever they want, officials said.
