Huaqiao University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park, also known as Huachuang Park and located in the Fengze district of Quanzhou in East China’s Fujian province, recently received a central government subsidy of 15 million yuan ($2.11 million).

The subsidiary was to help fund a platform support project in the Shuangchuang demonstration base in the park.

This is the second time that Huachuang Park has received support from the central government.

In June 2017, Fengze district became Quanzhou's first national-level innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration base.

Huachuang Park, led by the Fengze district government and co-founded by Huaqiao University, changed from an old-fashioned industrial hub into a center for innovation and entrepreneurship after transformation.

It is now expected to locate more than 200 businesses there and cultivate 75 entrepreneurial teams and 25 incubation and entrepreneurship projects, providing over 3,000 job positions.

In 2019, the Huachuang park received funding of 25 million yuan from the central budget.

In recent years, Quanzhou has continued to expand and improve its innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, developing innovation and entrepreneurship platforms such as maker spaces and technology incubators.

At present, the city has built 35 technology incubators -- two at national-level and 21 at provincial-level. It also has 52 maker spaces -- seven at a national-level and 31 at provincial-level -- bringing together 648 entrepreneurial teams and 354 startups.
