More than 20 overseas Chinese communities and dozens of overseas Chinese in countries -- including Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia -- had donated a total of 16.11 million protective masks and 4.13 million medical gloves to Wuhan by Jan 27.

Overseas Quanzhou businesspeople have brought together a considerable number of equipment to assist Wuhan's people, including 400 sets of medical protective clothing; 5,000 sets of medical isolation garments; 5,000 protective glasses; 18,000 protective caps; and 200 non-contact infrared thermometers.

The two production lines for sterilized sanitary wipes are running at full capacity at Jinjiang Hengan Domestic Tissue Co Ltd in Wuli Industrial Zone in Quanzhou.

"Profit is the last thing we would consider right now," a company official said, adding that Hengan had already sent the first batch of 2,500 sterilized wipes to Wuhan on the very first day of the Chinese New Year.

Shengda Medical Sanitary Materials Co Ltd, a disposable medical materials producer in Huangtang Town in Hui'an County, donated more than 4,000 pairs of medical gloves to Wuhan and started production 10 days in advance.

The company plans to provide 300,000 disposable medical masks to the market within the next month.

Anta Group, also a renowned local brand, announced that it had donated 10 million yuan to the China Charity Federation to set up a special fund.

"Medical staff are the key force in the battle against the epidemic. They are fighting on the most dangerous front line. I hope this special fund can provide support to them," said Ding Shizhong, chairman of Anta Group.

He said the fund will be used to assist and award medical staff who have made significant contributions in the battle against the epidemic.

The 3,000 sanitary products donated by local enterprise Jomoo Group also arrived at the Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan. "The products we donated, such as smart sensor faucets and antibacterial tubes, can help reduce bacterial cross-infection," said Lin Xiaofa, chairman of Jiomoo Group.
