Slew of new projects launched in Quanzhou

Projects worth 60.3 billion yuan ($8.66 billion) were launched in Quanzhou, Fujian province, from Dec 25 to 31. 

The 196 projects cover the fields of transport, industry, energy, education, tourism, infrastructure, urban environmental protection and people's livelihoods.

Construction has started on 94 projects with total investment of 44.4 billion yuan, and construction has been completed on 102 projects worth 15.9 billion yuan. 

Construction of the main part of the Quanzhou Bailai Water Conservancy Project, with investment of 14.27 billion yuan, started Dec 31. 

The project focuses on water supply, flood control and power generation. It also aims to improve downstream flood control capabilities and ecological water use, providing water resources from Fujian province's supplies to Kinmen county.

Construction of the first phases of the Quanzhou City Central Grain Depot Project and the Jinjiang Grain Storage Depot was completed in 2019, providing standardized storage capacities of 270,000 tons. 

The depots will power the development of related industries by including deep-processing grain projects in the grain depot development plan and gathering the grain and oil processing industries to serve the city's food security and local economic and social development.
