Quanzhou accelerates construction of 5G network

The government of Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province has attached great importance to the construction of its 5G network, since the city was included in the country's first batch of 5G commercial pilot cities in 2019.

Officials said that in order to speed up the progress of 5G, Quanzhou has successively issued a series of measures and policies.

These are providing strong support for the city's 5G network construction in terms of policy coordination and provision of resources.

As of June 21, 9,787 5G base stations had been built in Quanzhou, ahead of schedule.

Of these, 1,117 5G base stations were built in Fengze district, 606 in Licheng district, 230 in Luojiang district, 50 in the Quanzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, 1,947 in Jinjiang and 1,493 in Nan'an.

To date, the city has developed 5G application demonstration coverage in smart factories, parks and ports and other areas, with coverage extending to the new media, medical treatment and manufacturing sectors, among others.

In the second half of the year, Quanzhou plans to continue to expand its 5G industry applications.

Relying on its industrial advantages, the city will promote the integration of 5G and the real economy, the industrial internet and the smart city.

It will also accelerate 5G applications in the fields of e-commerce livestreaming, events broadcasting, smart logistics, telemedicines, online education and smart security.
