The Tieguanyin or "iron goddess" tea of Anxi county, Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province, has ranked first among more than 800 brands in the regional brand (geographical indication products) valuation, with a brand value of 142.69 billion yuan ($20.17 billion).

The news was released at the 2020 Brand Evaluation Press Conference held in Beijing on May 10, the fourth China Brand Day.

This is the first time that Anxi Tieguanyin has topped the value list of regional brands, and it has also led the national tea brand valuations for the fifth consecutive year.

Anxi county has long been famous across China as the birthplace of Tieguanyin, a premium strain of oolong tea that was developed in the county between 1725 and 1735.

Currently, there are 132 enterprises in the county that have Tieguanyin geographical indications for the use of special indications.

After years of development, the leading enterprises are actively involved in the construction of the Belt and Road. They have deployed the Anxi Tieguanyin brand marketing center in France, Germany, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Singapore and Malaysia.
