As the warm-up training venue for the track and field competition for one of the world's premier sporting events for teenagers -- the 2020 Gymnasiade, the stadium of Jinjiang Yangzheng Middle School in Quanzhou, a city in Fujian province, has recently received a complete makeover and upgrading.

The Gymnasiade, an international multisport event for teens organized by the Brussels-based International School Sport Federation, is held every two years.

The school's stadium consists of a top-grade track and a soccer field. The track is constructed in accordance with the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federations standards -- featuring a surface adopting the latest technology in plastic materials.

Elsewhere, the soccer field's lawn has adopted the highest standard and is regularly maintained by professional caretakers. The facility is equipped with a professional lighting system to meet the needs of TV broadcasts of national and international matches.

Jinjiang, a county-level city in Quanzhou, is set to hold the 2020 Gymnasiade in October -- becoming only the second Chinese city to host the Gymnasiade after Shanghai in 1998.

Home to many sportswear and other garment and shoe manufacturers, Jinjiang has previously hosted a number of international and national sports events, ranging from cycling to basketball and marathons.
