Charter flight takes workers back to Quanzhou

Flight DR5435 from Mangshi arrived at Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport on Feb 20, carrying 101 returning workers from Southwest China’s Yunnan province, according to airport officials.

This was the first charter flight to carry returning migrant workers in eastern Fujian province since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

Fujian AP Real Estate Co, based in Quanzhou, decided to pick up its returning workers from Yunnan province by charter flight on Feb 15.

"The charter costs are paid by the enterprise and government subsidies," said an official from the bureau of human resources and social security of Jinjiang in Quanzhou.

At the airport exit, Ke Guobin, the president of Fujian AP Real Estate Co, also handed out a bag of goodies to each employee, including tea, bread, face masks and cookies.

The company will strictly implement various epidemic prevention and control measures for its employees from Yunnan, scientifically arranging and flexibly organizing production plans during the epidemic, Ke said.

"Working here is very pleasant. The boss is very friendly. Quanzhou is our second hometown," said Duan Shaohui, an employee of Fujian AP Real Estate Co.

Over the past few days, many Quanzhou enterprises have chartered buses and flights for returning workers, to fetch employees back to Quanzhou and resume their work.
