Quanzhou Development and Reform Commission, together with Quanzhou Grain Industry Association are working to ensure that all grain-related businesses remain open to ensure a stable supply to the city.

All local development and reform departments have been instructed to monitor domestic grain and oil markets to ensure they are well prepared if the need arises to tap into government reserves.

Officials say that there is currently sufficient stock of finished grain in Quanzhou. And there is a total of 35,000 tons of finished grain (including 25,000 tons of rice) stocked in the city –– enough to meet consumer demand for a period of time.

Authorities have also said that the 13 rice processing enterprises in the city, which have a daily rice processing capacity of 2,580 tons, can meet the daily consumption needs of the city's residents in extreme circumstances.

The local government is also working to ship more grain to the coastal city via the Grain Industry Association.

According to official statistics, at the end of December 2019, the city had grain stocks of 900,000 tons –– more than enough to feed local residents for the next six months.
