A rousing New Year's concert was given by the Russian State Academic Symphony Orchestra in Jinjiang city in Quanzhou city in Fujian province on Dec 26, according to the organizers.

Nearly 20 famous Chinese and international musical works were staged at that night, including a selection from Russian composer Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake, the Carmen Suite by Bizet, as well as Liang Zhu and Unforgettable Tonight .

The Russian State Academic Symphony Orchestra, established in 1938, is one of Russia's oldest and best orchestras.

Since the establishment of the orchestra, critics say it has become something of a window for Russia, allowing people to know the country through its music.

Its chief conductor is the renowned musician Peter Slavinsky from Moscow, with various distinguished Russian musicians playing for it.

Critics say the long history of the orchestra endows it with a certain position among symphony orchestras in the world.

All its members are graduates from national institutes, including the Russian Academy of Arts. Many of them have won honorary titles.

The orchestra has been recognized and affirmed throughout Europe. It has toured internationally to such countries as Japan, Syria, Britain and Germany and has worked with many famous international musicians on different stages.

According to officials, Russia is one of the major partners of China in the Belt and Road Initiative and the performance of the Russian orchestra will further boost communications between the two countries.
