Minnan University of Science and Technology is located in Shishi, Quanzhou city, Fujian province. With more than 15,000 students and 1,100 faculty members, it is one of the largest private undergraduate universities in Fujian.

Founded in 1998, the university was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2008 to be upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate institution of higher learning. In 2012, it was granted the right to award bachelor's degrees.

In 2015, the university passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of Education.

The university has been mainly engaged in engineering, with coordinated development of science, management, economics, art, literature, education and other subjects. It has nine secondary colleges, including colleges of optoelectronics and mechanical engineering, and 41 undergraduate programs.
